Managing Counsel, Privacy & Data Security - Lucid Motors

Bay Area: East Bay

Our client, Lucid is looking for an experienced attorney to be a privacy leader. This senior role will help business leaders and stakeholders in the management and handling of privacy and data security matters and will be a key member of the legal team.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and design Lucid’s privacy and data security programs for jurisdictions throughout the world
  • Drive privacy compliance for the appropriate business and functional leaders and their teams
  • Provide practical and actionable advice to business and engineering teams on incorporating privacy into products and adopting innovative privacy solutions
  • Counsel on privacy and data security incident preparedness and response management
  • Research and track global privacy and data security legislation, evolving regulations, and enforcement
  • Update and maintain privacy and data security policies worldwide
  • Act as subject matter expert for contractual privacy and data safeguard clauses in Lucid’s third-party relationships
  • Coordinate with regulatory and government officials at various levels, provide required notices and respond to government inquiries
  • Oversee data subject request program
  • Develop and implement training regimens for privacy topics

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience at a law firm, in-house corporate or consulting environment with evidence of exceptional ability
  • Certified International Privacy Professional Certification (CIPP) is strongly preferred
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and the ability to constructively engage and work with people throughout the world
  • Strong knowledge of global privacy laws including United States and Europe
  • Experience with helping clients establish and maintain GDPR compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues
  • Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge and practical advice to help solve important business challenges
  • Strong execution and project management skills
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills with the ability to present information/complex legal matters clearly and concisely
