VP, Business & Legal Affairs – Southern California
Our client is a leading independent
developer and publisher of interactive entertainment
software worldwide. The company boasts a portfolio of
top-selling, award-winning interactive entertainment and a
network of internal development studios whose focus on new
intellectual property creation positions this company at the
forefront of entertainment innovation.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Counsel,
this attorney will have a minimum of 10-15 years of IP
licensing and transactions experience. This attorney will be
primarily responsible for the Core Group. Responsibilities
will include structuring, development, outsourcing and
advertising, outbound/OEM, licensing, merchandising,
inbound/technology licensing and other content licenses and
service agreements. Will also help business clients identify
and mitigate risks and comply with laws and other internal
policies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for
managing a small team of attorneys and paralegals. Prior
record of supervisory experience is a must.
Requirements:
• 10 - 15 years IP/licensing
experience encompassing both a top tier law firm and
technology company, preferably related to video games.
• Previous experience with IP,
commercial transactions and licensing matters.
• Intellectual property experience
including content, copyright and trademark, privacy and
software development and sales.
• Entertainment and/or interactive
entertainment industry experience is preferred, but not
required. • Previous experience managing other attorneys and
paralegals. • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
• Excellent analytical,
communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong
ethics and integrity.
• Must be practical, pragmatic, and
able to develop “outside the box” solutions that satisfy
both legal and business interests.
• Sense of humor.
• BA/JD from top schools.
• CA Bar preferred.
Compensation commensurate with
experience.
