Associate General Counsel – Solar Start-Up Company
Mid-Peninsula

Privately held solar company seeks attorney to oversee the company's legal affairs. The Associate General Counsel will report to and work closely with the CEO, the outside General Counsel and the Board, and will be an integral part of the management team. This company’s management team includes executives with long-term experience in project finance, solar energy, construction and market development. As legal counsel to the company, this attorney will coordinate and formulate the company's position on legal and compliance issues and will provide leadership and creativity in devising innovative legal solutions in working toward company’s business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain relationships with outside legal advisors, and coordinate provision of internal and external legal advice.
• Link legal needs with all other departments, and anticipate their requirements.
• Advise Board, CEO and Executive Leadership on legal matters.
• Oversee and ensure appropriate legal and contractual support for project development, including joint venture, power purchase, and construction agreements.
• General corporate experience in order to provide legal support in areas such as employment, financings and general corporate.

Requirements:

• J.D. from top tier law school; California Bar.
• Minimum of 10 years of legal experience; law firm and in-house experience preferred.
• Strong project development experience, with experience in the energy or project development industry strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing PPA and EPC contracts.
• Proven ability to lead streamlining and optimization process for project closings.
• Excellent negotiating, time management, project management, dispute resolution and interpersonal skills.
• Proven record of good judgment, creative problem solving, commercial awareness, and high-quality contribution to business strategy.
• Comfortable managing multiple, conflicting and changing priorities in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
• Passion for renewable energy.
